Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Several years ago, after I got out of the Air Force, I moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, and got a job working at Sheppard Air Force Base. One of my co-workers was a fishing nut and he bugged me every day to go fishing after work.

To save some time and get to the lake faster, he occasionally invited me to his house to have dinner with his family. His wife just happened to make the most awesome Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler for dessert one evening.

This was the first time I have ever tried a cobbler that I can recall. It was so good that I couldn’t get enough and I may have made a pig of myself having several helpings.

I asked his wife if I could have the recipe and so she kindly wrote it down on a piece of paper. I still have it after more than 25 years.

Some years later I brought this recipe home and since I know my mom loves peaches, I made it for her birthday. From that time this has become a yearly tradition.

Fresh out of the oven. Golden brown old fashioned peach cobbler. It smells incredible.

Serve and enjoy. Old fashioned peach cobbler is best when served warm with a scoop of ice cream and a cup of coffee.
